Help for Bernardo and Maria
Posted by Stephanie on July 1, 2021, 9:52 am
Yesterday Bernardo, my gardener and good friend, was transferred from the Cihuatlan hospital by ambulance to Autlan where he is undergoing care for pneumonia. He has tested negative for COVID at both a Dr. in Melaque and at the Cihuat hospital! Costs are mounting and they could use our help! The bookstore will have a jar out if you would care to donate, Thanks so very much! | -----------------------Re: Help for Bernardo and Maria

I'd like to add to your donation jar but am stuck at home, waiting for a plumber. Is there somewhere that is open for longer hours to set up another jar? Or: What about a Gofundme account? Bernardo's medical costs may well exceed the change in peoples' pockets. Bernardo works for me as well, but I've been out of town and didn't know that he was ill 'till this morning. Please let me know what I can do to help, Stephanie. | -----------------------Re: Help for Bernardo and Maria

Maria phoned me this morning and was overwhelmed that we would collect some money for them! Some bills can be delayed a bit so several folks out of LM at this time are sending checks to me in Calif that I will cash and swap out for pesos when I get back! Or there is always easy access to Western Union at OXXO in LM or tue donation jar at the bookstore on Fridays and Mondays from 10-12! Will speak to Laura at the Lab and see if she can take donations as well for us due to lesser hours! If Dean wants to do a gofundme that would be terrific! Please let me know how that goes! Thanks folks! | -----------------------How about a Go Fund me page

Okay…gofundme seems to be the people’s choice for donating! Can someone in LM set this up for them? I am on the road til Monday but can be reached at swunner@earthlink.net.. Thanks for any help you can give! | -----------------------Re: How about a Go Fund me page

I haven't heard any news about Bernardo since giving his coworker Juan Carlos some money to take to his family a couple days ago. I continue to be concerned for this sweet & happy-go-lucky man since learning of his hospitalization, but I have no contact numbers nor do I know where Bernardo's family lives. Someone who's lived in La Manz more than a few months and knows the family really ought to take charge before the family is overwhelmed. | -----------------------Re: How about a Go Fund me page

Kathy, help is arriving for them on a daily basis through his customers house managers, neighbors in the community, a jar at the bookstore, sorry to say now closed due to the influx of cases in LM..and folks are sending me checks in Calif. to be cashed into pesos on my return! Bernardo left the hospital yesterday to stay at a family members house near the hospital out of Autlan, this member is also in the medical profession! He has seen his daughters and is going to recover there. Thank you for your concern and shall pass your thoughts and concern onto Maria! They most likely will return to LM in approx a month…ojala! | -----------------------Re: How about a Go Fund me page

Stephanie, About the time you were probably writing your post, Bernardo's father-in-law came by to check on my yard and conveyed the same news. I'm so relieved; now I can worry about something else! haha | -----------------------Re: How about a Go Fund me page

Stephanie, much easier to set up the go fundme in the states. Once you go thru all the steps, and there are a few, it is easy to access from here. | -----------------------
