Many wearing mask again

I went to the Ejido office this morning, everyone I saw on the way and in the office is wearing a mask (and they weren't New Years mask). Different than a week or so ago when none (or very few) were. Just sayin. | -----------------------Sinola is back to RED...

Depending on who you talk to, it is worse than ever right here in town. Take care. | -----------------------Re: Sinola is back to RED...

Any truth to the story just sent to me that there are approx 80 cases of COVID in LM right now? | -----------------------Re: Sinola is back to RED...

I am hesitant to post the source for fear of overstepping my bounds (without express permission) but my source said that their entire family had COVID, which was most of the persons I saw that started this post. As to what variant it is i.e. Delta or ? I don't think they do that kind of analysis here. I believe its called DNA sequencing. This topic fell off the message board a couple of months ago but in my news sources I see it all the time, especially stuff about the Delta variant. Lazy at the moment but may go through the links I have saved just in the past week or so to back up my claim. Actually my claim (if I were to make one) would be that "the war (against COVID) is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous". Long live patent protection and the most holy corporation. /s | -----------------------Covid........

It will be continuous because people are unwilling to wear masks and get vaccinated. We failed the test. Alas. | -----------------------The Delta Variant...Be Careful!!

Hola. A close LM friend reported to me that her neighbor contracted Covid and is currently in the hospital despite having received both AstraZeneca vaccinations. I trust and believe my friend and this information. So the jest of this is that we all need to be vigilant, vaccinated as well as not vaccinated. The probability of Covid infection for those that have been vaccinated is very, very small but as reported, does happen. Better safe than sorry, I think. Actually, both husband and wife contracted Covid despite being fully vaccinated. The husband recovered quickly but the wife, with underlying health conditions, will be hospitalized for another month. Both of them are more than 10 years younger than me. I am being really careful now! | -----------------------Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Eta, Iota, Kappa and Lambda

Maybe because of the semi-toxic dust from all the sewage-enhanced dried mud in the streets left by Enrique. Dr Marta's office reports lots of people with stomach-aches and respiratory problems due to all the dust. I'm now wearing a mask while cycling because of the dust.

And Dra. Marta is qualified to diagnose those "stomach-aches and respiratory problems" as being "due to all the dust"? | -----------------------Re: Many wearing mask again

I would guess that even though it is anecdotal and not lab supported, a local Dr is exactly who would see these patterns with all the patients they see in a day. A good Dr friend of mine in Melaque noticed the same after Jova all those years ago. The dry contaminated dust started getting airborne and he noticed a lot more of these types of infections. Whilst they may be wrong, it seems like an educated and informed bit of reasoning to me. | -----------------------Re: Many wearing mask again

My concern, Dan, is for those who have more serious conditions/viruses and are being diagnosed and treated as victims of the dreadful air quality. | -----------------------Re: Many wearing mask again

For sure Jo Anna, I get that and mis-diagnosis is certainly cause for concern especially with what we have been dealing with over the last 18+ months. I know social media can be only trusted as far as you can throw it but there has been more than a few times where people have outed the mis-diagnoses and written things off as Covid when it was something else. And vice versa. Lab testing really is the best way to confirm, however if you are in the health system (IMSS, ISSSTE) it can take a long time get that done, and not everyone locally wants to spend hundreds (potentially) of pesos on lab tests to find out for sure what it is. | -----------------------Re: Many wearing mask again

Very, very good news about mask wearing. I live on the coast in Mendocino County California and individuals and businesses have been very pro active and consistent in mask wearing and comprehensive vaccine implementation by our superb local health clinic. It is sad to see misinformation and wrong in the face of facts, resistance to masks and the vaccines. | -----------------------Re: Many wearing mask again

A creative way our health clinic was able to get a lot of volunteer help in both the testing and vaccinations was to have volunteers declared "essential health care workers" so they received the vaccine. I volunteered to help and was able to get both Pfizer shots last January. | -----------------------Re: Many wearing mask again

Curious what the situation is in La Manz re COVID. We did not come in 2021, but are booked for January 2022...on the assumption that it would be relatively safe for vaccinated folks. What is the COVID situation there now?? Thanks.

Hi Lou, I came down here for a short trip and as a vaccinated person and healthcare provider, I am constantly looking at the data and unknowns. What I can say is that I’m concerned as cases have spiked but I don’t know what the positivity rate is at this time here in La Manz. So my concern is just based on what I am reading across the globe with the Delta variant. People are masking and practicing hand hygiene quite well her. My hope is more vaccines continue to rollout over the next few months and we can stop any ongoing mutations and outbreaks. Hard to know where we will be in 6 months but I’m hopeful more people will get vaccinated which will help to lower mutation risks and serious infections. However, masks and distancing may be with us for a while and it’s a reasonable expectation if it protects others. I did get my COVID test for flight home in Melaque and will do another one a few days after returning back to the States. | ----------------------- |
