recent passing

George and I send our sincere sympathy to the families of Adan Brambilla and of Alejandra Jimenez. We remember them as spirited, hardworking people who were always willing to help us outsiders with no thought for gain. We know that both Adan and Alejandra have large families and many friends to mourn for them, but we want them to know that George and I hold them in our hearts even though we are far away. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

I texted a Mexican last night to get the real story about what was happening in the Pueblo and he mentioned Adan had a pre existing but covid complicated it! Talked with Alejandra’s daughter Lupita yesterday morning and she said her mother had been in the hospital for five days and had covid…as did she but a milder case and was using oxygen! To my knowledge from info given by the locals, none of these folks had been vaccinated to date! And at last count 10 had passed and Agape made it home and is feeling much better! Preexisting conditions and no vaccines seem to be the common denominator for more severe cases! | -----------------------Re: recent passing

One of the deceased was a fully vaccinated diabetic, so anyone with pre-existing conditions should be extremely careful. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

Adan has been ill with the leukemia for months, though they were perhaps not clear on the diagnosis. He did not have covid as well unless he got it in the last few days. He certainly didn't when I last saw him a couple of weeks ago.He was a good friend and I will miss him a lot. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

It was Adan who first built the Bamboo Bar across the arroyo on the ocean side of the bridge. A few years ago it was just a simple, funky place to go at night. He would build a fire on the beach and his fishermen friends would stop by and have a beer from the cooler, while he went out octopus fishing in the dark. Gradually he expanded the site with quaint little cabanas, and with the help of his 3 sons Aaron, Marcos, Adan (Jr) (and a West Indian woman whose name I canʻt recall) it became the coolest place to go for sunset, which then progressed to its further incarnation as the Crocodile. Adan was a unique, entertaining, strong force in the pueblo. I will miss him. My heartfelt sympathy goes to his family and all who loved him. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

Ah, two beautiful souls, moved on to whatever the Universe next holds for them. My heart aches for their families, for their loved ones, for their friends, for the pueblo. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

Such a shock. I'll miss those times when I would encounter Adan unexpectedly, over there, or in town.. He was always friendly and generous. And I was so intrigued by the little Hobbit House that I think he built himself. So creative. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

I will miss my dear friend, Alejandra, as she wheeled her wheelbarrow across town all the way from the kindergarten to the 'crucero', selling her delicious corn tamales and cups of corn. Everardo, the blind man, and I were frequent customers. Also, Alejandra, was the devoted grandmother to my favorite young soccer players. I will miss her company as we drove Agape's soccer youngsters and another one of her grandsons to their out-of-town games. Alejandra wanted to be sure that the grandson was safe and that he behaved himself. She was a good grandma and team supporter. I wish I was home to accompany the family in this difficult time. They are all strong but Alejandra was/is a pivotal figure for the family and she leaves a giant hole. I would want to pay homage to this and to the friend she came to be. Alejandra, RIP. I, your family and this pueblo will miss you deeply. Cruz

Alejandra Lopez Rosales is her name. I'm so sorry I got it wrong in the original post. She will be missed so much! | -----------------------Re: recent passing

My most sincere condolence for all the lost souls this beautiful town has lost due to Covid. Descansen en Paz. Adán and his beautiful blue eyes and wonderful sons were a friendly welcome when I first bought my house years ago. Alejandra’s dedication to her family will always be remembered and admired. Mi sincero pésame para sus familias. And to all the others whose names I don’t have. I know they leave a painful void and sorrow in our village. It is a real crises how this epidemic is spreading here, reasons are known and useless to be debated here or anywhere. This is not unique to A Manzanilla. Instead needs must be addressed and the Community must come together in a safe and kind manner. The couple who takes care of my house has five members of their family who are ill or have had Covid. They’ve already lost a member of their family, and a quite young one, under 40.RIP. They have informed me that there is a need of oxygen tanks and the costs for purchasing and filling them are an expense just as unbearable as the disease. I am willing to send $100.00 to start some funds to help those directly affected. Is there anyone who can help organize and or donate towards this cause. Let’s help spread the solutions instead of the Negative criticism. I salute “La Flaca”, the lady with the frutería, who pushed for mask wearing from folks coming in buses to our beaches.👏🏽🙏🏽 Staying at home fully vaccinated and wearing a mask when in crowds has kept me safe so far. Lucky to be in Northern California. | -----------------------Re: recent passing

Thank you, Patricia! I immediately tried to find some Facebook posts that have come up recently. Oswaldo, and other ejido members, have been meeting, and have acquired some of those items for the community. I'm sure they would welcome your generous offer to help expand the resources. Also on Facebook is an announcement re a new ambulance in town. I think it has been assigned here with a team, to cover this critical time. Steve Nisbet also recently offered to transport people to hospital in his truck, if both ambulances happened to be busy at the same time. For some reason, i find it hard to link to these posts right now. I'd appreciate if a Facebook user would copy/paste, or link to this info. It would also be great to add the new temporary ambulance # to our emergency services info sheet you can find on the STICKY line of this message board. Is there a techy volunteer who would help with this? Thanks in advance! | -----------------------
