Amazing, Daniel. I’ve been waiting to see sand there again since before TS Hernan! Let’s enjoy walking on that sand while we can. Hasta luego! | -----------------------Re: Big waves and no rocks

Its calling the waves we are getting now up to 1.9 then Thursday it jumps to 3.0,almost double the now! Windy doesn't quite concur, if you go to Thursday mid day you see they have the storm off the coast more, there is a space between the storm and the land that was / is not there for these waves. https://www.windy.com/-Waves-waves?waves,2021-08-13-00,18.685,-105.522,6 NOAA shows it tracking East, headin out

The proximity of TS Linda to La Manzanilla will affect wind, rainfall and storm surge in our area, it will not have a significant impact on the size of the waves we'll receive. In fact, surf prognosticators are already forecasting larger waves early next week in Southern California due to TS Linda. Think of the north shore of Oahu, well known for its large waves in the winter. Those waves are generated by storms in the Gulf of Alaska and eventually make their way to Hawaii. | -----------------------Re: Big waves and no rocks

Correction: The waves forecast for SoCal early next week will be attributable to TS Kevin. TS Linda's waves will arrive a few days later. | -----------------------Re: Big waves and no rocks

Your post didn't make much sense to me. I'm just going by your link, its a new source for me so I am on the learning curve. As I said in my post the site seemingly says this current wave height is apox a 1.9 and then on Thursday Friday it jumps to 3.0. It doesn't differentiate between storm surge and wave height, in fact it doesn't mention storm surge at all from what I can tell. If there is something I am missing (very likely) please help me through it

The site in question predicts wave height only, not storm surge. The reason the wave height is predicted to be in the 10 foot range is due to winds generated by the tropical storm. Storm surge is a completely different animal: "A storm surge, storm flood, tidal surge, or storm tide is a coastal flood or tsunami-like phenomenon of rising water commonly associated with low-pressure weather systems, such as cyclones. It is measured as the rise in water level above the normal tidal level, and does not include waves." Wikipedia Does that help? | -----------------------Re: Big waves and no rocks

Seems to me when you are on the shore wave height and storm surge go pretty much hand in hand. Out on the ocean storm surge doesn't matter, just wave height. Perhaps its mainly the mariners whom that site is meant to serve? I'll just stick to sites like Windy that make it easy to understand. When I look at that site I see the waves are 2 meter now and less than that as the week goes on. Not saying its right but its information I can understand. I just want to know if I should get ready to run or......? https://www.windy.com/-Waves-waves?waves,20.150,-105.853,6,m:edOadfX
