As such I have a few things to say:
I would like to remind everyone to phone only the telephone number advertised for the Ambulance - 315-112-4048. This is the only number to guarantee the ambulance will attend to you. Phoning any individual on the team will not guarantee an ambulance.
If you are suffering from ANY respiratory problems, the crew have been instructed to instruct you to call 911 for an ambulance dispatched from La Huerta. This is the Ambulance that is set up with equipment to deal with a potential Co-Vid case. CALL 911
As everyone is well aware, the ambulance (and indeed anything) requires funds to allow it to continue. It makes no difference if they are responding to a scorpion sting or a heart attack, the same competent individuals will respond. These people will be receiving on-going training and it is our hope that this can continue, and it requires money.
The flat rate the Ambulance Crew require FOR EACH CALL is $2,000 pesos. This will cover the COSTS for each run - whether or not you choose to use the ambulance. Once you have called the ambulance - it is on its’ way, and the men are paid. So, don’t think you do not have to pay anything if you decide not to use the service. You have called, you owe.
The Ambulance Crew are voluntarily giving up their family and/or their jobs to attend to your health needs and they must be compensated.
I am aware that there are some Mexican families that sincerely can not carry these costs, therefore I propose that they pay what they can, and then they start a “go fund me” campaign to raise among their friends and donations to reach the $2,000 goal.
The ambulance has been very busy the last two months:
- 57 year old woman taken to Euchari Hospital - tested positive for Co-Vid
- woman with apparent breathing difficulties taken to hospital - tested positive for co-Vid
(NOTE: these were the last patients taken with respiratory problems)
- adolescent pregnant woman taken to hospital due to complications of delivering twins (they are both happy and healthy)
- Arrhythmia - taken to Cihuatlan
- Bradycardia - taken to Cihuatlan
- 63 year old man suffered a accident, taken to Cihuatlan with suspected head injury
- 42 year old man and 11 year old son in a Moto accident, sons’ leg broken in 3 places
- Scorpion bite - taken to Cihuatlan
- Gringo had passed out and ambulance was summoned to monitor vital signs
- 33 year old man had an accident on the highway, bandages and gauze were needed
- 27 year old man with scorpion bite - take to Cihuatlan
Most of these people were not able to pay the minimum required to keep this service going. There will be opportunities to donate to the ambulance throughout the seasons, but if you are able to contribute any amount and any time, please do not hesitate to stop me on the street.
We will soon be providing training to any potential new ambulance attendants, so if you have a desire to contribute to your community and receive life-saving skills consider joining the team! You can contact me on WhatsAp 315-115-1631 to sign up!
