2021 was a challenging year for everyone. We all looked forward to 2022 with great anticipation. We hoped the pandemic would ease; organizations, businesses and educational institutions would be able to operate once again with confidence – and families would be able to gather without worry of spreading or contracting the coronavirus. As much as we wished for this to happen, we are still dealing with realities of the covid virus.
Since its inception in 2003, La Catalina Foundation has focused on increasing the number of students and programs it supports in the community. This has been possible thanks to donations from sponsors and supporters of the foundation. From a few students attending high school to over 60 scholarship students presently in the program, La Catalina is proud of its contribution to the community of La Manzanilla.
For the past 15 years, the Foundation has provided an annual community event/combined fundraiser, “NIGHT UNDER THE STARS”. Funds raised from this evening have been used to help support and maintain the foundation…. scholarships, computer equipment and accessories as well as ongoing foundation costs. Each year we look forward to presenting this evening of entertainment-performances by students and local dance troupes, with a dinner and silent auction as part of the evening’s festivities. Postponed last year because of the pandemic, we were hopeful a safe return of this popular event could happen in February 2022. After much discussion and serious consideration, it has been decided to cancel the evening.
In lieu of our popular ‘Silent Auction’, we are focusing on ‘A Night Under the Stars’ Online Auction. This online auction will commence February 5th and will continue to February 15th. Thanks to the widespread generous support of our community, donations include artwork, hotel stays, health and wellness services, restaurant certificates and more.
We invite you to support our scholarship students and educational programs by participating in the online auction. See our poster for registration details.
