Update anyone!

I have been checking the MB and YouTube for updates on damage, if any, but nothing for the La Manzanilla area yet. Surprised someone has not updated us on what happened or posted photos> | -------------------Re: Update anyone!

I’m sure as soon as power is restored there will be updates. | -------------------Re: Update anyone!

There are updates being posted to facebook. Link is below (but you must be a facebook member to see). Latest report seems to be still no power or cell service since about 1 pm yesterday. "Fix Tony" has been posting some video & commentary from there somehow. No injuries reported so far, according to Tony. https://www.facebook.com/groups/lamanzanillalife/

Paul Zúñiga just posted this message on the LM facebook page. Facebook English Translation: No major damage or deaths from the hurricane. It was category 1. It rained, there was moderate wind, we are all good. No power since yesterday, but everyone's fine, homes have no serious damage, only the streets do damage (as with every rain). Thanks Paul! | -------------------Re: Facebook update by Paul Zúñiga

It is true that as far as we know everyone is safe. More damage than a usual heavy rain however. Might have been just Cat 1 but it came in steady up the valley from the arroyo into town. Lots of people have some pretty major roof damage. During the peak it was definately dangerous to be outside. Lots of tin roofing flying around. We hid in our kitchen, cuz thats where the tranquilizing liquid is, and the shutters were being hammered pretty good. Lots of trees down all over town. But, as usual, town is putting itself back together in true La Manzanilla style. Smiling all the way. | -------------------Re: Facebook update by Paul Zúñiga

Unfair to respond to Paul's post on Facebook here but "there was moderate wind" where he lived, protected by the mountain, he should know that. Hurricane force other places, it took down 5 concrete electrical post in Boca, you don't get that from Moderate wind. | -------------------Re: Update anyone!

You are just the person to help me verify something about Facebook. You said "but you must be a Facebook member to see" but click on one specific post, like the one Paul did and copy past that specific address. My guess is I will be able to see it even though I don't have a Facebook account. | -------------------Re: Update anyone!

Yes, that worked for me, thank you. I was also curious as to the time he posted which says 9 hours ago, not sure how that works outbut that is 3 pm our time, no power, no cell, no phone, how did he do it? I had to allow a couple scripts from Facebook and now I feel kind icky, and I have to clean my computer (separate subject). Joking a bit there (but now much). What I am interested in is communication, accurate, well sourced, accountable communication. | -------------------Re: Update anyone!

Bruce & Jackie Colasurdo posted using TelMex (landline DSL, I presume) with their modem/router powered by a battery. Here's the post, with photo of their setup. https://www.facebook.com/groups/lamanzanillalife/permalink/828810637826208/ I utterly loathe facebook. I joined (Yes, as Duckie Hoomever, my seudónimo mexicano) solely to keep in touch with my & Judy Dykstra-Brown's mutual friends, and later to poke around where no other alternative is available. I've blocked their tracking somewhat, even though I'm sure Zuck is still watching somehow. For those (you?) who get that icky feeling, I suggest using a separate browser, in stealth/private mode, for nothing but facebook. Maybe try Opera, as it has a built-in VPN, so facebook can think you're in Virginia or Sweden or Singapore. (Very few options, but it's worth the price, which is free.) | -------------------
