TROPICAL STORM OLAF

...SPECIAL FEATURES... Low pressure of 1009 mb is located along the monsoon trough near 17N106W, or a couple of hundred miles south-southeast of Manzanillo, Mexico moving northwest near 10 kt. Satellite imagery shows somewhat better organized scattered moderate to isolated strong convection from 14N to 20N between 102W to 109W. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next few days, and a tropical depression is likely to form by midweek while it moves west-northwestward or northwestward at 5 to 10 kt, just offshore of the coast of Mexico. This system has a high chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. Please refer to the latest NHC Tropical Weather Outlook at www.hurricanes.gov for more details. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATWDEP+shtml/062153_MIATWDEP.shtml? NOAA, reminds me of the Bill Cosby record (like vinyl) that was a hit when I was a kid. He was also on TV, if you had one. .

Gale Warning: A gale warning is in effect for the offshore waters of Mexico from Jalisco to offshore central and southern Baja California from Wed through Fri night. These are gif files, they should play s loop, but I am not very well informed on how the various browsers handle them. If they don't loop try clicking on them or right click play. Water vapor shows it better https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/sat/satlooper.php?region=epac&product=wv-mid | -------------------Re: NOAA - Where the weather people get their data

Wow, Daniel, I didn't know that the tropicaltidbit.com site even existed before your post this morning. It is easy to navigate and I have bookmarked it to add to my weather info library. Gracias! | -------------------Re: Tropicaltidbits.com

I got the link from this message board about a year ago? (I suck at time), I forget who posted it originally, I think maybe James? I call it the acid weather satellite because it reminds me of the way I have seen hallucinations morph when I used to take acid (lots and lots of it What really unique is that it will make a gif file for you. Also nice is that there are 4 different versions, Longwave IR (acid default), Visible, true color and water vapor to choose from. You can also control the speed of the loop (the + - on the right) and the number of images in the loop using the gear on the left. What I would really like to see is sites like this and Windy give me the option to go into the past a bit (or a lot), they got the data its just them making it accessible for the general public. NOAA has some past stuff but I haven't learned how to get data from recent events, like say hurricane Norma. I really want to investigate the path of that one and find out why we didn't get a storm surge from that! Data baby, I want DATA | -------------------bill cosby

Bill Cosby, funny guy. I wonder if this clip was before, after or during the time he was drugging and raping women? I'm of the opinion that Bill Cosby is a gone person and should stay there.

We are at 3 inches since 8 am this morning and Olaf just keeps movin real slow and a crankin out the moisture. Its not *tkortfsu, i.e. there is not 4 inches of water going down the street out front, but its pretty heavy at times. Just hopin it stops, but it won't. If this were a contest I would guess that we get over 11 inches by 8 am tomorrow. click to play For those who don't know exactly where we are, on the left side is a 20 follow it to the right where it meets the coast of Mexico, that's us. * the kind of rain that ####s shit up | -------------------Re: Rain, lots of Rain

Thank God it stopped around 5 pm. Up at my property on the hill there are water falls where there have never been water falls. The ground is totally saturated. I don't expect the lapse in rain to last, but am very grateful for the past 4 hours or so of no, or very little rain. Gracias a Dios | -------------------Melaque rain totals from Olaf

La Manzanilla may be in Olaf's rear view mirror but I ran a 16 day weather projection on Tropical Bits and it doesn't look like we will be enjoying too many dry days during that period. I know we needed lots of rain this summer but I, for one, am done with the unrelenting wet and an ocean brown with runoff debris. | -------------------A bit of sunshine!

I will be at the bookstore with repairman from 10:30-12ish if anyone can drop a fan by! TIA! | -------------------Re: A bit of sunshine!

Thanks Susan for the offer! Damage was minimal and just keeping the ceiling fans on for a couple of days is drying it out nicely! And the guys came and fixed the skylight! Ojala! | -------------------Re: A bit of sunshine!
