First to need to get a police report with a copy of the proof of lost, then make an appointment at the consulate (depending on which one is currently open, I went to PV), then you have to make an appointment for a replacement document, then wait two or three days, then pay a huge amount of money then pick it up and off you go. I had to renew my US passport a couple of years ago. Maybe the attached info and website might be of use to you.

I just renewed my passport last week in PV. Piece of cake, but I'm sure its different for lost passports. Here is a number for you to call 814 160 5512. Met people there from Guad., 8 hrs on the bus because that embassy is closed. Hope this helps. | -------------------Re: lost passport

There is a large delay in renewing US passports. It took four months from the time I mailed my forms. | -------------------
