Cycling to help…

Our very own Murray Rees, a Canadian part timer with a full time heart is cycling for donations to be split between the ambulance service and Helping Hands bookstore! He approached me with the idea several weeks ago and has already been pledged over $2,00Candian and thought by opening it up to LM MB readers we can garner even more funds! So his plan is this, weather permitting he will clock in approx 250 k or nearly 130 miles in about 12 hours this coming weekend! What a ride, and nearly 60k more than he has ridden in the past! So we wish he and his support team, Beth, all the best of luck! For Canadians who wish to contribute, get in touch directly with Murray at bmrees99@gmail.com! For Americans, one can make Western Union transfer in my name…Stephanie Bennette Wunner..but then please inform me so I can go receive it…swunner@earthlink.net! Once the ride is finished Murray will let us know the amount to be divided between us both, and I will keep any amounts given here or received through WU until that time as well! Thanks so very much..and Murray…mil gracias and have a great ride! | -------------------Re: Cycling to help…

Thanks Stephanie for the post. My plan is to cycle down Vancouver Island from Courtenay to Victoria which is about 215K there abouts. Thanks so much for all the support already received. Riding this weekend, weather permitting. Saludos | -------------------Re: Cycling to help…

On behalf of the Ambulance Committee I’d like to say thank Murray for his generous commitment to La manzanilla! I laughed when he said “215 k or thereabouts” because he neglected to mention the arduous trail he was embarking on! At least 25 miles of that is The Malahat - going from sea level to around 1200 feet ~ really scary in parts! Extraordinary views on this route but ~ personally I’d have taken the long FLAT route out to the airport a few times! But seriously, thank you Murray, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️ | -------------------Re: Cycling to help…

Well Valerie, I chickened out of doing the Malahat at rush hour...."I'm a day tripper, takin the easy way out" and going on the Mill Bay Ferry. Better chance of living that way! | -------------------Re: Cycling to help…

Tomorrow hopefully will be the day to get on the bike...weather permitting. Our total is now, $5247CAN and there's still time to add to that. Thank you all so much for the support with this, I'm overwhelmed and truly grateful. | -------------------Re: Cycling to help…
