WALK ‘N TALK news
Posted by La Catalina Foundation on January 8, 2022, 10:09 am
Following discussions with the Office of the Delegado, La Catalina Foundation is cancelling the Walk ‘N Talk Conversation Spanish program for at least the next week. This precaution reflects a commitment by the foundation to keep the university student ‘tutors’, the extranjero ‘students’ and the community in general as safe as we can. Many, many thanks to Chandra Hunt, who has been instrumental in the implementation of this pilot project. Her knowledge, guidance and commitment to starting up the ‘Walk ‘N Talk program is greatly appreciated. The foundation is designating this program as a ‘student work’ - all funds go directly to the ‘tutors’, (primarily scholarship students who are happy to speak Spanish with their English students). The number of tutors will increase in the future as more students receive their vaccinations and become available. Thank you to those who have participated in the pilot program and to those who have expressed an interest in joining the program. We welcome all positive feedback and would ask that personal opinions re: the virus and vaccinations be left out of your comments. | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

Hoping the best for you in the future, I'm confident Chandra will be back to kickin it very soon. A bit of clarification on this line please "The number of tutors will increase in the future as more students receive their vaccinations and become available. " Are you saying you will have to be vaxed to participate in the walk and talk? | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

Daniel, I think that's always been a condition for participation. | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

This from December 13: "La Catalina COVID PROTOCOL Tutors and students must be double vaccinated." | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

We requested our extranjero students to be double vaccinated in order to provide protection for our ‘tutors’ ( primarily university students who need to return to school in different parts of the country this next week). The majority of interested extranjero students enquired if we could confirm our teaching group were double vaccinated before they committed to participating. We look at this decision as a ‘win-win’ for everybody interested in participating with these protocols in place. | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

When talking about respecting the local culture its interesting how this vaccination discrimination / apartheid, which is against the policy of Mexico, is somehow excused. You could have just said "we don't do that here". "“We will not require that type of proof whatsoever,” Obrador stated. “I want to be very clear about that.” https://www.traveloffpath.com/mexico-will-remain-open-for-tourism-with-no-testing-or-vaccine-passports/ In Puerto Vallarta when they close the bars early it applies to both the vaccinated and not vaccinated.

Another example of Federal Government policies being ignored: The Fed says all cruise ships will be welcomed into Mexico; Sinaloa and Jalisco are saying Nope, not happenin' here! | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

It seems the only people who are requiring proof of vaccine are the winter visitors that are conducting business. I haven’t seen any Nationals requesting proof. Interesting isn’t it… | -------------------Re: WALK ‘N TALK news

It is interesting to see how some of the extranjero community, are applying some protocols that NOT even the Mexican government is asking for, basically to me, those who are trying to apply those protocols are segregating or a lest "pretending to protect" your fellow community. Local people here in La Manzanilla don't talk about it, nor making making any rules to the visitors either local or extranjero, it is very uncomfortable than in my beloved La manzanilla is happening and have to deal with it. personally I have seen those, who are asking to wear your mask, walking and socializing with no mask on them. So please, let's not go over the board on this subject, and let the federal authorities to deal with with that. Lets continue being a whole great community, and not divided among us.
