Can you buy duty free liquor at the Manzanillo airport? | ------------------------Re: Duty free question

Yes you can, but why pay so much more there, than in la Manz or Melaque?!! The prices at the airport are definitely higher. | ------------------------Re: Duty free question

I paid $220p at ZLO for a HALF-sized bottle of Coralejo last year. The cost for a full-sized bottle is about that here in town. Also, the packaging was not correct for LAX and YVR so it wound up costing me a whole lot more in time and inconvenience. | ------------------------Re: Duty free question

Except there's carrying it vs packing it in your checked luggage. So far I have a candidate I bought in Melaque! | ------------------------Re: Duty free question

You can buy liquor in the Manzanillo airport but it's not duty free, so they don't pack it onto the plane for you. You're better off to buy it in your town and pack it yourself in your checked baggage. | ------------------------Re: Duty free question

Linda, because mine was not sealed properly at ZLO, just stapled into the plastic bag rather than (as I learned later) being sealed along two sides, I got nailed at Houston (and Vancouver--tell you about that later) and had to race from where they were searching my carry-on back to the original check-in so they could check my carry-on piece as I could not carry it on with this improperly sealed bag. Thus, is was escalators, running across enormous rooms, standing, again, in line-ups and hoping not to be charged $25 (not pesos) for the extra piece of luggage. Then, in Victoria, having to make two trips back out to the airport because the (not) carry-on did not make it onto the same plane I was on. If you don't like pains in the you-know, pack it in your check-in luggage.

Poor selection, the duty free is a wooden box closet, mostly tequila there. Its a joke what they have to offer. Most of you have more selection in your own bar. Wish we would have bought our own in La Manz. Also buy the coffee in La Manz too.
