Big Waves, Beach Report

Some loving the waves but many getting dumped big time and finding it hard to get their paddle boards out. Be careful today. Thanks for heads up Bret.

Looks like more of the same big waves today, then tapering down to more normal size during the week. Trop Wx Discussion: "...LONG PERIOD SOUTHERLY SWELL CONTINUES TO DOMINATE MUCH OF THE FORECAST WATERS...AND ARE REACHING THE CENTRAL AMERICAN AND MEXICAN COASTLINES THROUGH BAJA CALIFORNIA. THESE SWELLS ARE LIKELY GENERATING VERY LARGE AND POWERFUL WAVES...AND DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WITHIN THE SURF ZONE TODAY...BUT WILL GRADUALLY FADE DURING THE NEXT 24-36 HRS." Just the latest weather-related item to come along and complicate a big holiday weekend. At least the threat of rain is staying pretty far away. I hope these waves don't cause any danger to the vacationers. Yesterday afternoon it looked like nearly everyone was staying this side of the wave break. Did the life guards caution people? | ------------------------Lifeguards

Bret: I didn't see any lifeguard interaction with the folks in the water. They've set up a tower near the croc lagoon and would be, I suggest, more useful manning it than strolling down the beach. Most of the folks are well within the tolerable zone which is good because the waves are generated a fairly strong undertow. But everyone seems to be enjoying Palm Sunday. | ------------------------Re: Big Waves, Beach Report

Waves seem to be calming down a bit. Still, little ones need to be watched. | ------------------------ |
