What's up with Banamex?

Admittedly, it's been a long time since I've gone to a teller window to withdraw money, but I could always just present my passport and debit card and get as much as I wanted. When did that change? Today, I had to show my passport and residente permanente card, and I could only take out 9000 pesos. Plus, I had to insert my card and enter my NIP in a card reader on the counter. The remainder of what I needed came from the ATM in the lobby, which also apparently has a 9000 peso daily withdrawal limit now. Other than the fact that Banamex has never been easy to deal with, imo, is there a reason for these procedure changes? | -------------------Re: What's up with Banamex?

Just a thought, could part of it have something to do with your having to wear a mask, and they can't see your face to verify? | -------------------Re: What's up with Banamex?

No clue, but it's good to know that we can now withdraw 9,000 pesos daily. Thanks for the heads-up! | -------------------Re: What's up with Banamex?

Semi-Update: Today I went to Citibanamex in Melaque to withdraw money to pay the rent tomorrow. When I was in the ATM "lobby," an employee emerged from the interior. So I asked her if the maximum daily ATM withdrawal limit for clients is still $6,000 pesos. She explained that the maximum withdrawal limit per transaction is still the same, but the maximum daily limit is now $9,000 so I could withdraw $6,000 and then another $3,000. "Or any combination equaling $9,000 in two transactions?" I inquired. "Yes," she said. I didn't think to ask her if the limit at a teller window is the same, but I'd guess that Jane's experience is the new norm. The bank is clearly trying to reduce the number of staff as well as clients inside, so making the daily limit at both the ATM and the teller window would serve that purpose. | -------------------
