I get notified by email each time there is a deduction from
my bank account, that helps a lot!
Banamex is super vigilant when it comes to hijacked cards, actually
too vigilant as my other post mentions (they have cancelled the card
on valid purchases).
They will call you before cancelling the card but since I get at
least 3 spam calls from Banamex a month trying to get me to apply
for a credit card (the irony is strong with that one) I say
no thank you and hang up (they can't go through with their end of
the offer). If I am not home to receive that call the card
got cancelled.
One time someone used my card to pick up a package from the bus
station for $1,200 pesos. They called me and I said no I didn't
authorize it and they cancelled the card.
I went into the bank to file for a refund and was at the window filling
out several forms for at least 1/2 an hour. When I left I had 8 hours
(or so) to call a number on one of the forms and give them the secret
number.
When I got back to the office the phone had static on it so I missed
they window of time that they gave me and by the time I did get
through I was told to do the whole process over again.
I did not repeat the process and swore an oath I would never
try to get a refund ever again.
Besides the non issueance of a credit card and the occasional bank
card issue I like Banamex. The online banking is so easy I never have
to go into the bank and that is how I like it.
