Telmex Internet

On 8/15 I got tired of my modem going to a red light for the internet 5 times a day and in the speed which is supposed to be near 10Mps was about 3, I called TELMEX and was given a report number and told they would come and check and within 72 hours it would be fixed. On 8/18 no one had showed and nothing changed, so called again and was given another report numbear and told someone would be there on the 19th, no one showed and things did not improve. Surprise, someone called and said they could come there now and I was leaving and said it would have to be after 3pm. They said they would show then, NO SHOW. On 8/25 called again and got another report number and some reason..... say back out and repair by the 29th. Yesterday called again to still not fixed and said would be out today or Friday between 8 and 10. No show today but all is worse than ever the PING is 233ms and should be around 20 and download is 1.67Mps and the Upload is .40 Mps. That last call to them must have got their attention, it is now slower than ever. Anyone else having this problem. I will call again on Friday, and if anyone else is having problems they should call and to get the services for which they are paying. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Sorry for the problems, it can be maddening! Get to know the person who comes out (if they ever do). They won't usually take bribes but lemonade, cookies, make them lunch, whatever it takes to get them to remember you! As close to the Telmex switching station as you are (closer the better) you should have great Internet. You have a bad connection between your modem and the outside of the home and or a bad connection somewhere in between your home and the switching office. The first one you can check yourself. Make sure the modem is plugged into the correct side of the splitter (one side is phone other is modem). Unplug that splitter and make sure the contacts are clean, if you have a replacement try using that. Take the cover off the little white box that the phone line from the splitter plugs into, look for ants or anything that may be making a short. Don't worry, there is not enough electricity in there to hurt you. What you want is clean contacts all the way from the computer to the wall thing. If that all looks good then you need the Telmex person. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Daniel, thank you for the feedback and yes I have done those things you mentioned and advised the person on the phone. I worked for the telephone company for 30 years and it seems that TELMEX here is like MaBell 20 years ago. This is just madding because promises promises and nothing. Even did try the Cookie thing. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Hmmm, perhaps your cookies suck? Did you try another modem? Did Telmex take you through all the steps of checking your modem? If they determine that as the problem they will just send you another modem, or you can go pick one up. Note - you have to go through the steps with them on the phone before you can go pick one up. If you don't they won't exchange the one you bring in. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Last Saturday Telmex delivered new modems to a whole bunch of people here in La Manz without us requesting them or reporting problems with our old ones. I wonder why you weren't so lucky? | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Yup, we got a new one delivered, too. Haven't taken it out of the box yet, though. The old one works well. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Hi Debbie, One time Armando (the guy who used to own Judy's house) had a problem that Telmex kept ignoring him on cause it was hard for them to fix. They had tried several times. I went out to where his telephone line connects to the telephone pole and found where his house connected, one of the wires looked like it was connected but had a little brown spot on it near where it connected. There was a bad spot in the wire, I cut it and hooked it back up and solved the problem. The reason I am mentioning this is because I think you may have a problem that Telmex doesn't know where the problem is, that is why they keep ignoring you. Not sure but maybe. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

My comment was actually supposed to be reverse psychology, with the end result being my getting some cookies to test out. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

We just had a major wind event (70 mph) that removed us from our electrical power in Anacortes, WA. Off for 31 hours, on for 6 hours, back off for 14 hours, with internet, phone, and cable TV off the entire time +6 hours. Our issues were solved by a crew from Kamloops, BC. It made me burst into song: Oh Canada. . . thanks. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Not wanting to re-direct the conversation specifically from Telmex Internet, but responses from internet providers are usually less than adequate. When they show up, they have equipment that is not sufficient to resolve the problem. Daniel: Fortunately there is no "climate change". Tick, tick, tick. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Today was the day I told TELMEX they could not have access because I was away. They called to say they were in town. I was not. The the internet is better but not up to par. I will call again to see if they think they fixed it. Life with TELMEX is a joy!! | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Hi Debbie, I sent this email to you yesterday, did you get it? "I was thinking, the best way to get rid of your problem once and for all is to order a new phone number. Once its installed cancel the line you have now. Problem solved". Best to you Daniel | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

I did receive you email, I remember how difficult it was to get my service installed,so no a new one is not an option for me. It seems to be working much better as of Thursday evening. Magic! I will call them again to see what they seem to have done. It still is slower about 5 Mps but I pay for twice that the ping speed was up to 200 now it is 20, better. Thanks Daniel for your concern.

Just called them again and they said they would be out and fix it today by 8pm. They could see the service was not up to par. I told him I was continuing to have no internet at least three times a day(a red light on the modem). I just checked my speed and it was png 29ms, dnload 4.86 Mps and upload .61 mps. Let's see what comes of this. | ------------------------Re: Telmex Internet

Today at 3 pm Moses the Telmex installer called and they came by. He replaced the modem and changed the connection in the office since it kept stopping and having a red light. So it is now fixed. Perseverance pays off. | ------------------------
