We were also dismayed to see that the final half of our rental to be paid upon arrival was going to so much more than when we booked in the spring. Because we were aware that the owners were also Vancouver Islanders like ourselves, we emailed the property managers to ask if they could contact them to see if they might consider a bit of relief for us. Nothing to lose by doing so is what we thought. And glad we did! They replied and the next day we had a new rental agreement for much, much less. (Gary and Dyan, if you're reading this by chance, you completely rocked our world with your kindness).
At least the peso rate per $CAD started rising mid January, closing for the weekend yesterday at 13.66 (not that we can actually get that prime rate). Considering that in early April it was at hovering around 11.86 pesos per dollar, this is at least some good news.
